The man was driving a Toyota Corolla traveling south between exits 14 and 13 in Norwalk, when the vehicle struck a tractor-trailer that was stopped in the breakdown lane at about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, the Norwalk Fire Department said.
The man was lying on the highway, being assisted by other drivers when emergency responders arrived. He was treated by firefighters and by paramedics, and transported, with serious injuries to Norwalk Hospital.
The highway was closed southbound for about an hour as debris, the tractor-trailer and car were removed.
